After your micro-needling treatment with the SkinPen, you could experience redness between one to three days, you may experience inflammation, itching, burning, and possible breakouts, and you may also experience some swelling around the eye area.

Post Procedure Instructions:

• Do not touch your face for a minimum of 4 hours.

• It is recommended to avoid sweaty exercise and sun exposure for 72 hours post-procedure.

• Avoid washing your face after the treatment.

• Next Day apply Rescue or Shield and an All-Physical SPF (TiZO) to help soothe, hydrate, and protect the skin.

• Change your pillowcase on the day of treatment.

• Wipe down your phone and/or glasses with alcohol.

• You can wash your face and wear makeup the next day, but it is recommended to wait at least 24 hours to apply makeup.

• Wear at least an SPF 30+ daily starting the following day. Must use All Physical SPF to ensure no adverse reaction

• Avoid Ibuprofen for the next 24 hrs

• Don't use retinoic acid for 5 days.

• Make sure to wear mineral-based makeup, one that does not contain any oils.

• Avoid applying any skincare products containing active ingredients for at least 72 hours.

• Do not use any exfoliating products for at least 72 hours.

• Avoid waxing, shaving, and depilatory creams on the skin for at least 72 hours.

• We advise the avoidance of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen (Motrin), Naprosyn (Aleve) and aspirin for 2 weeks after the procedure. This is to ensure we are not suppressing the initial healing responses that are important in maximizing treatment benefits.

• We ask you to keep the area clean and refrain from touching it for at least 6 hours to minimize the chances of infection.

• Infection after treatment is very rare as PRP is antimicrobial in its own right. If infection were to occur, it would typically take at least 72 hours to manifest. Signs of infection would include fevers, chills, worsening skin redness, warmth and pain. Please call the clinic if you experience any of these symptoms.

• Avoid any scrubbing to the area of the injection site. We advise patients to avoid any public pools or hot tubs for 48-72 hours to minimize infection risk.

Pre-care

• Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment

• Avoid blood thinners, anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. Advil/Aleve) if approved by your doctor

• Avoid retinol for 48-hrs prior to treatment

Post Care

• Avoid significant movement, touching, or massage of the treated area, unless instructed by your provider

• For 24-72 hours avoid strenuous exercise, make-up, extensive sun/heat, and alcohol to prevent swelling or Infection

• If you experience swelling, please apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour and try to sleep slightly elevated, face up. Apply Arnica to help with bruising & swelling (begin at least 2 days prior to injections.)

• Gently clean the area twice daily with mild soap; aloe can be used. Avoid chemical soaps. lotions or irritants until all redness/swelling resolves.

• Avoid taking over-the-counter blood thinners such as Aspirin, steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment

• Use Tylenol for discomfort if it is approved by the provider

• Noticeable results are immediate but improvement will continue for the next few weeks
